Soulless City

A barren land was scrubbed out from the core of its ground so that it can bloom as the newest capital of Myanmar. Over 10 years after, she now hosts 1,000,000 people among most of whom are from bureaucratic circles. She accommodates people who has no right to choose nor voice but to be with her. “One Command, One Voice.” She was built under this command and people were ordered to move here to serve their country and forced to move on with their lives.

This is Nay Pyi Taw. During rush hours, people work against the clock as living souls who are destined to be breathing inside the walls of life-less structures. Then, the city awaits.

Nay Pyi Taw is also mirroring the current form of Myanmar whereas every part of the city is bustling with current and former military men, government officers, legislators and then of course, citizens. Some people are resisting, some are opposing, some think they are ruling and some hiding.

Uncertainty is there with her. Not knowing where to go, where to lead. She is still full of mysteries and restricted zones. Where will she drift? How will she grow? Will she wither? And for whose futures will she defend?
